"This is Angeal Hewley... distinctly not here. Leave a message, and I'll get back to you when I can. If it's important, Lazard, Genesis, or Sephiroth should know where I am."
I did. His names Lucky and I've been excited for you to meet him. I'm still training him so I haven't taken him to that many places yet so it might be better for now if you come to the apartment where he's comfortable.
[And that ping is Squall's location and a picture of his sweet little Lucky, with a too big chew toy of a bone in his mouth. Enjoy it Angeal. ]
[Before Squall can answer the door the sound of knocking alerts Lucky who tippy taps on the wooden floor to the door with the cutest little baby borks to announce that someone new is hear. Squall hurries to the door and picks him up, holding him safe in his arms before opening the door. He didn't want Lucky to run out just in case.]
Hey Angeal. That was really fast, did you fly over here or something?
[Lucky is looking at Angeal from Squall's arms and does another cute bork before trying to reach for the new person to be held by him.]
[Hey Angeal, how far is the manor from Squall's apartment - ]
[Don't worry about it.]
[Angeal certainly isn't, smiling with soft adoration as the little puppy squirms towards him. There's not a doubt that Lucky would be all over him immediately if he could, but... He still respects Squall a little bit by not just taking him straight from his arms. Instead, he offers his hand out, letting the pup sniff as much as he likes.]
[So Angeal ran all the way from the Villa? Damn, the guy doesn't even look that tired. SOLDIER really are a league of their own. Squall can tell how eagerly Angeal wants to touch Lucky and how Lucky is excited for the new person so he lets Angeal inside and once the door is closed behind him he puts Lucky on the ground to do what he wants.
With a zoom, Lucky runs up to Angeal's legs and quickly stands on his back legs, leaning against Angeal's legs as he sniffs him with his tail wagging eagerly behind him. He lets out a small lil bork before sitting and looking all the way up at Angeal, expecting to be picked up and held.]
Yup, he's lucky on a count of the lucky horseshoe spotting on his back. He's one of the dalmatians I used to watch, was one of my favorites.
[As though he needs to be told twice to cuddle a puppy.]
[Angeal is on his knees in a heartbeat, making soft little noises to the puppy as he lets him crawl all over him as he pleases, large hands gently scooping him up to help.]
Good boy, who's a good boy... And huh, is that what that is? Didn't know horseshoes were lucky, but I guess that makes sense...
[Horses being Clearly beings of legend and fairytale, after all.]
[Is Squall possibly stealing a candid snapshot of Angeal with Lucky crawling all over him? Absolutely. His own face is pink just watching how adorable the exchange is. Angeal truly is a behemoth next to his small puppy and its entirely too cute. Hopefully Angeal didn't hear the sound of the phone taking a picture with the distraction of lucky.
Lucky himself is loving the attention and happily crawling all over Angeal, yipping the whole time as if he found the most fun playground to play on. He ends up licking at his hands when he is picked up, wanting to play more.]
He has ninety-eight siblings. I'd love to bring them all. I remember all their names even but I don't have the space and while the Villa would be more than enough I don't want to put that burden on Genesis or any of you...and I'm not sure how I'd continue working at the bakery and raise that many puppies at the same time.
[Even if Angeal did hear the sound of the phone, he absolutely wouldn't care. All of his attention is focused on Lucky - as shown by thee fact that he just flatout lays on the floor, letting Lucky get up onto his torso before he holds up the little pup.]
[Someone is having the time of his life and it's not just the dog.]
True... Ninety eight dogs would be a lot to take care of. [Angeal nudges Lucky's ear with one of his fingers.] You'd probably have to put in a request for special housing tailor fit to their needs, and get help from other people.
Honestly, I can't imagine it being too hard. Who wouldn't love dogs?
[Lucky happily nibbles at that stray finger pressed against him. It's a play bite so there is no real force in it and his teeth are too small to do any damage anyway. He does make the littlest growl as if to say play with me more angeal.]
Yeah the problem is who would help besides you? I don't really know who else would like to spend their time watching after ninety-nine puppies and two dogs. That's a lot of poop Angeal....though it is a lot of kisses too and kisses outweigh all other cons I think.
[Angeal says that without even the slightest bit of hesitation, even as he makes a small tch! noise of scolding and lightly boops Lucky on the nose for the biting. Puppy teeth are incredibly sharp. Sure, it doesn't matter to Angeal, but he's thinking about every other person who might have to deal with puppy in the future.]
And there was someone on the network who said she had a preference for dogs... I imagine we could ask for her help, see how she thinks about it. Also, if you're getting Zack, you're probably getting Cloud, too, so there's another person.
If you reach out and start asking around, I'm sure you would be surprised at how many people would volunteer their time. [Rolling his head back, Angeal gives a wry smirk.] I mean, it's not like we have anything else better to do around here.
Oh, yeah Zack seems like a good idea. I've been meaning to get to know him a bit better. I mean we are dating the same person so...
[Lucky lets go of his finger the minute he's booped on the nose and instead licks it once more. His tail wagging wildly the whole time. He might become a propeller dog with that tail one day. ]
Yeah I guess I can make a post for it or something. Would you want one for yourself? [He crouches down to Angeal's lever on the floor and looks over at Lucky.]
I think it'd be cute if you and Genesis had Pongo and Perdita, that's Lucky's parents. They are really good dogs. Pongo is a smart boy and Perdita is one of the prettiest Dalmatians I've ever seen.
[The cutest little propeller dog. Angeal rewards Lucky's obedience with some ear ruffles.]
With all that we have access to, I'm sure that there's a way for us to work this out. But... would you really be fine with leaving the parents with us? It sounds like they're wonderful dogs, so I want to make sure you're certain on that.
I know you would take care of Pongo better than anyone and with you there to maybe help Genesis with Perdita I can't imagine better owners. It would give Lucky plenty of time to see his parents too.
[He gives Lucky a pat as well who licks both of their hands before placing his hand on Angeal's shoulder.]
Of course you don't have to. I won't impose on you or anything. It was just a thought.
I know you'd love it but you're a pair with Genesis so if it doesn't work out don't worry about it alright? You are honorary godfather for Lucky anyway so please feel free to enjoy all your puppy time with him.
[While Lucky is still really happy he does start to whimper a little.]
Oh, I think he needs to go out for a walk. Want to come with us?
I wouldn't mind you visiting more often....to see lucky of course. [Sure Squall, just to see Lucky.]
I don't think he wants you leaving anytime soon either. [He grabs Lucky's leash and attaches it to his little red collar before handing it over to Angeal who probably wants to lead anyway. It's fine, Angeal can walk him and his dog.]
I was thinking I might get him a harness since he's so small. What do you think?
[Yesssssssssssss. Angeal is grinning as he's handed the leash, already winding it around his hand carefully. At this young age, the most important thing is going to be teaching him to stay at people's sides. It'll take a little bit of focus, and he'll have to pick up some treats on the way to encourage Lucky... but they can manage.]
A harness would be good, for a few reasons. Besides how much more preferable it is to tugging on a collar around the neck, the act of putting it on will help Lucky adjust to staying still while he's being handled.
You have to get them used to that when they're small, and so it's less of a problem when they grow up and you have to clip their nails or take them to the vet.
[Angeal with a leash in his hand just seems to look natural. Squall hasn't had a chance to do any petplay since his time with Genesis and just seeing Angeal like that right now even though it has nothing to do with it has him blushing but he quickly shakes his head and gets Lucky and himself ready, Grabbing his jacket and putting his own boots on.]
I'll work on getting him a harness then, I wonder if they might have one somewhere? We don't really have vets here either so hopefully Lucky stays healthy.
[Once ready Squall opens the door for them, and the three of them head out, Lucky trying to run off head while Squall is the more obedient one matching pace with Angeal.]
[Angeal works on keeping Lucky distracted while Squall gets ready, scritching behind his ears, doing a bit of play, that sort of thing.]
Probably you'll just have to make sure he doesn't hurt himself physically. I'm not sure if we can get sick in this place.
[Simulation and all that.]
[And the two of them step out, Angeal keeps a steady grip on the leash, and makes a small whistle while he uses his other hand to tap at his side.]
Lucky.
[He should have some leftovers and things in his pocket... Well they can stop by the bakery real quick to get better treats to encourage a little bit of training.]
[Lucky rushes out ahead with the leash but with Angeal holding a steady grip and the calls he does pick up fast and come to heel by Angeal. However it's more to see what's in his pockets then actually following the leader at the moment. His nose goes up sniffing wildly at him.]
You are like a magician with dogs.
[Squall hasn't had a hard time with Lucky so far but he hadn't got him to listen like this yet so he's really impressed.]
...I wonder if he could do that with me...
[He doesn't even realize he says that outloud for Angeal to hear.]
Ha, I'm just a old hat with this sort of thing. I love dogs, and that means everything to do with them, including training.
[But for now, Lucky was such a good boy, coming immediately when called (even if just for treats). So Angeal leans down, feeding him juuuust a bit and enthusiastically encouraging him all the while. The key to rewarding good behavior is making the praise absolutely hyped up.]
[And with Lucky eating, he smiles up at Squall.]
It's easier than it looks, honestly. You just have to be patient, and get habits established. He'll do it for you in no time.
